We are excited to host John Abbott College & RASC Montreal alum Emilie Lafleche - live from Purdue University where she is pursuing her PhD in Planetary Sciences. Emilie will be sharing her adventures in analog space exploration!

Event poster

For the Sept 2022 Townsend Lecture, Emilie joined the RASC Montreal audience virtually from the Lunares Moon Analog Research Station in Poland...an analog mission that completely changed her outlook on a career in space exploration. One week after that experience Emilie was invited to join a new club on campus: Purdue’s Space and Earth Analogs Research Chapter (SEARCH). Alongside this team of ambitious Purdue students, she was inspired by her recent mission to design a training program for fellow students interested in becoming analog astronauts themselves. While the journey to bring this program to life wasn’t easy, the lessons learned and incredible opportunities that came with it made for a truly memorable summer. In this presentation, Emilie will share a bit about her experience creating and running the first-ever Student Analog Astronaut Training Program (SA²TP), as well as where this program is headed next.

Hosted by the great Orbax and Guelph Physics alum Prof. Karim Jaffer, we will have a live Q&A where we will endeavour to answer your questions in real time!

Join us live on the Guelph Physics YouTube or Facebook page, or the RASC Montreal YouTube page.
