The Guelph Physics live stream autumn series continues Tuesday November 30th at 7:00 pm EST with a chat about the strange science of perspiration, and other curious stories told in science journalism.

Our guests are Guelph Physics alum Sarah Everts and Dr. Joanne O’Meara.

https://youtu.be/Oh1H7cRfDOE [1]

Author of the Joy of Sweat, Sarah Everts completed a bachelor's degree in biophysics at the University of Guelph, a master’s degree in chemistry from UBC, and a master’s degree in journalism from Carleton. She is a long-time journalist who has written for a variety of publications including Scientific American, New Scientist, Smithsonian, and the Economist. She spent most of her career based in Berlin, Germany, but now lives in Ottawa where she is the CTV Chair in Digital Science Journalism at Carleton University. In addition to writing about the science of sweat, Sarah has won awards and accolades for her reporting on the dark history of chemical weapons, and using science to authenticate art.

Dr. Joanne O’Meara is a Professor in the Department of Physics at the University of Guelph. She has been teaching university-level physics for more than 20 years and doing public outreach for even longer. Her passion for teaching and learning has been recognized with many awards, including the Canadian Association of Physicists Medal for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching, and a 3M National Teaching Fellowship award. She is an accomplished author, blogger and science communicator and the co-founder of Royal City Science, a non-profit dedicated to the pursuit of building a science centre in Guelph.

As always, we will have a live Q&A where we will endeavour to answer your questions in real time!

Please join us for this unique opportunity to chat with two of the most passionate science communicators in the field! If you are an undergraduate or graduate student looking for an interesting and compelling career, this will be the stream for you!

Hosted by Orbax and streamed live to our YouTube channel and to Facebook @GuelphPhysics Tuesday November 30th at 7:00 pm EST.
