Abstract
TRIUMF is Canada’s national laboratory for particle and nuclear physics. The facility is very diverse in its research areas, some of which include medical imaging, radioisotope production for nuclear medicine, material science, experimental and theoretical nuclear and particle physics, and cancer therapy treatment. At the heart of TRIUMF is the world’s largest cyclotron, accelerating protons to energies of 500 MeV. Within the ISAC facility (Isotope Separator and Accelerator), the proton beam bombards targets to produce beams of exotic isotopes. This talk will focus on radioactive decay experiments performed in the ISAC facility. An overview of decay mechanisms, radiation detection, analysis and results will be discussed.
Further Details
The talk is from 12:30 to 1:30 pm. Snacks will be provided at 12:00 pm. Make sure to follow the Graduate Seminar Series on Facebook [1].
