January 22nd marks the 30th anniversary of University of Guelph Alumna Roberta Bondar’s mission aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery as the first Canadian woman in space.
Join us at 7pm as Guelph Physics hosts a livestream with the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada discussing Dr. Bondar’s work and examining the impact she’s had on a generation of astronomers.
RASC I&D Chair Virginia Rufina Marquez-Pacheco will explore how Dr. Bondar's training prepared her mission, her continued work to study the effects on astronauts, and her current philanthropic work.
Former RASC Montreal Centre President Katherine Dulong will talk about her current Canadian Space Agency project: Feeding Future Astronauts.
As always, we will have a live Q&A where we will endeavour to answer your questions in real time!
Please join us for this unique opportunity to chat with astronomers who are part of the oldest astronomical institution in Canada.
If you are an undergraduate, graduate student, or just have an interest in space exploration, this will be the stream for you!
Hosted by Orbax and streamed live to our YouTube channel and to Facebook @GuelphPhysics.
