I am very pleased to announce that the first ’Women in Physics Lunch’ for the year 2020 will be held on Monday January 13th from 12:30 p.m to 1:30 p.m. in MacNaughton Room 222.
Snacks will be provided!
This event is open to anyone interested in improving the representation of minority groups in physics.
Our special guest is Professor Spyrou (see bio below). Dr. Spyrou is a successful scientist, who also has a keen interest in outreach activities and the representation of minority groups in physics. This is an opportunity to glean information from Dr. Spyrou’s experiences and her journey in becoming a leader in her scientific field.
Bio
Artemis Spyrou is a Professor of Physics at Michigan State University (MSU). She obtained her Ph.D. in 2007 from the National Technical University of Athens in Greece and has been at MSU ever since. She served as the Associate Director of Education and Outreach at the Facility for Rare Isotope Beams for four years, and is currently the facility's Outreach Faculty Advisor. Her research focuses on nuclear physics experiments that are important for understanding astrophysical processes.
